Bio Sophie Earnshaw, CFA, Portfolio Manager, joined Baillie Gifford Overseas Limited in 2010 and is an Investment Manager in the Emerging Markets Equity Team. Ms. Earnshaw joined the International Focus Portfolio Construction Group in 2014. Sophie graduated MA in English Literature from the University of Edinburgh in 2008 and an MPhil in Eighteenth Century and Romantic Literature from Cambridge University in 2009.

Bio Linda is an Investment Manager and a member of both the China A-Share Team and the Long Term Global Growth Team. Linda joined Baillie Gifford in September 2014 and became a Partner of the firm in May 2022. After five years in Edinburgh, Linda relocated to Baillie Gifford’s Shanghai office in December 2019 as Head of the Investment Team. Prior to joining Baillie Gifford, Linda spent four years as a global equity analyst with Aubrey Capital and two years in real estate investment in China. She graduated BComm in Accounting and Finance from the University of Auckland, New Zealand in 2007 and MSc in Finance and Investment from the University of Edinburgh in 2011. Linda is a native mandarin speaker.

Fund objective

Objective The Fund aims to outperform (after deduction of costs) the MSCI China All Shares Index, as stated in sterling by at least 2% per annum over fiveyear rolling periods. Policy The Fund will invest at least 90% in the shares of, or depositary receipts representing the shares of, Chinese companies. Chinese companies are companies that have their headquarters or a significant part of their operations in China and may be listed, quoted or traded on any market. Depositary receipts are transferable securities issued by a bank and which represent the shares of a company. The Fund may also invest in other transferable securities of Chinese companies and money market instruments. The Fund will be actively managed and may invest in companies of any size and in any sector.
