Long-term capital growth and income by investing in the Equity Markets of the Republic of Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Phillippines, Singapore and/or the PRC in accordance with the Sustainability Key Performance Indicator Strategy (Relative) (“KPI Strategy (Relative)”). In this context, the aim is to outperform the Sub-Fund’s Sustainability KPI compared to Sub-Fund’s Benchmark to achieve the investment objective. We manage this Sub-Fund in reference to a Benchmark. Sub- Fund's Benchmark plays a role for the Sub-Fund’s performance objectives and measures. We follow an active management approach with the aim to outperform the Benchmark. Although our deviation from the investment universe, weightings and risk characteristics of the Benchmark is likely to be material in our own discretion, the majority of the Sub-Fund's investments (excluding derivatives) may consist of components of the Benchmark. The Sub-Fund follows the KPI Strategy (Relative) and promotes responsible investments by applying a sustainability key performance indicator (“Sustainability KPI”) to provide transparency on the measurable sustainability outcome pursued by the Sub-Fund’s Investment Manager for the shareholders. Minimum exclusion criteria for direct investments are applied. Min. 70% of Sub-Fund assets are invested in Equities as described in the investment objective. Max. 30% of Sub-Fund assets may be invested in Equities other than described in the investment objective in accordance with the KPI Strategy (Relative). Sub- Fund assets may be - even completely - invested in Emerging Markets. Max. 30% of Sub-Fund assets may be invested into the China A-Shares market. Max. 30% of Sub Fund assets may be held directly in time deposits and/or (up to 20% of Sub-Fund assets) in deposits at sight and/or invested in Money Market Instruments and/or (up to 10% of Sub-Fund assets) in money market funds for liquidity management. Max. 10% of Sub-Fund assets may be invested in UCITS and/or UCI. All bonds and Money Market Instruments must have at the time of acquisition a rating of at least B- or a comparable rating from a recognised rating agency. Sub-Fund classifies as “equity-fund” according to German Investment Tax Act (GITA). Min. 80% of Sub-Fund’s portfolio shall be evaluated by the “Weighted Average GHG Intensity (Sales)" (the “Sustainability KPI”). Portfolio in this respect does not comprise derivatives and instruments that are nonevaluated by nature (e.g., cash and Deposits). KPI Strategy (Relative)'s aim shall be achieved by a minimum outperformance of 20% of Sub-Fund’s Sustainability KPI compared to the Weighted Average GHG Intensity (Sales) of Sub-Fund’s Benchmark. Min. 2.00% of Sub-Fund assets will be invested in Sustainable Investments. Benchmark: MSCI AC Asia Excl. Japan Total Return Net (in USD). You may redeem shares of the Fund usually on each business day. We usually distribute the income of the Fund on a monthly basis. Recommended Holding Period: 5 Years SFDR Category – Article 6 (a financial product that does not consider the EU criteria for environmentally sustainable economic activities)

Fund manager biographies

Name Yu Zhang
Since 22 July 2024
Bio Yu Zhang is a Portfolio Manager at Matthews. He manages the firm’s Asia Dividend and Asia ex Japan Dividend Strategies, and co-manages the China Dividend Strategy. Prior to joining the firm in 2007 as a Research Associate, Yu was an Analyst researching Japanese companies at Aperta Asset Management from 2005 to 2007. Before receiving a graduate degree in the U.S., he was an Associate in the Ningbo, China office of Mitsui & Co., a Japanese general trading firm. Yu received a B.A. in English Language from the Beijing Foreign Studies University, an M.B.A. from Suffolk University and an M.S. in Finance from Boston College. He is fluent in Mandarin.Yu has been a Portfolio Manager of the Matthews Asia Dividend Fund since 2011 and of the Matthews China Dividend Fund since 2012.
