Press release
4 July 2023
Guild Esports PLC
("Guild Esports", "Guild", or "the Company")
Entry into British Formula 4 Esports
Guild Esports PLC (LSE: GILD; OTCQB: GULDF), a global teams organisation and lifestyle brand, is pleased to announce its entry into the 2023 season of the British F4 Esports Championship ("British F4 Esports" or "the championship"), marking the Company's entry into competitive simulated racing ("sim racing") for the first time.
Guild will field two professional drivers in British F4 Esports, with the Company to announce its roster in due course. The professional players will have access to the Guild Simulator Facility, containing high-end sim racing rigs provided by Fanatec, Guild's Official Sim Racing Peripherals Partner. The Company expects its entry into British F4 Esports will provide sponsorship and revenue opportunities, and access to a pipeline of new talent, as well as increasing Guild's audience and attracting new fans.
The British F4 Esports Championship is fully sanctioned by Motorsport UK, the governing body for motorsport in the United Kingdom. Motorsport UK's commitment to safeguarding and inclusivity within motorsport and sim racing closely aligns with Guild's values, making the competition a close cultural fit for Guild.
The British F4 Esports 2023 season will begin in September and run until November 2023. It will consist of eight rounds held at digital replications of real-world racetracks. Competing in the championship's 2023 season are companies featured at the highest echelons of traditional motorsports, including Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant and Williams. The championship will be contested using FIA F4 cars, which are officially licensed by the FIA, the governing body for world motorsport, and modelled on real-world Formula 4 cars.
Alongside its entry into British F4 Esports, Guild has committed to supporting drivers in the UK FF1600 Esports Cup, a dedicated feeder series for the British F4 Esports Championship that is open to underprivileged drivers who do not necessarily own sim racing hardware or have not previously had the opportunity to compete in sim racing. Guild will leverage its Academy and the Guild Simulator Facility to provide entrants with the opportunity to train and improve ahead of the competition. Opening its simulator facility will provide a scouting opportunity for Guild to discover talented drivers for its Academy and professional teams.
Luke Jones, Vice President of Commercial, Esports and Gaming, commented: "Throughout my career in Sim Racing, it has been clear that there has been a missed opportunity for organisations to develop grassroots talent in the esport. That's why we're so excited to be entering into the British F4 Esports Championship, which presents us with the opportunity to nurture young competitors and utilise the incredible facility available to us at the Sky Guild Gaming Centre. For our commercial team, this is also a fantastic opportunity to begin our journey speaking to new audiences and open up new revenue streams."
