Two multimillion-pound commissions for Zinc Media labels & BAFTA Award

Zinc Media Group plc (AIM: ZIN), the award-winning television, brand and audio production group, announces the commissioning of two new seven-figure commissions and a BAFTA award for factual entertainment for its Rob and Rylan's Grand Tour series.

New Commissions

One of the commissions, a documentary series set to air on BBC and CNN, Live Aid at 40, is being produced by Zinc's Brook Lapping label, in association with Ronachan Films. It will delve into the complex stories behind the historic event and its legacy. The series will feature exclusive interviews with iconic figures such as Bob Geldof, Bono, Sting and Midge Ure, chronicling how they mobilised billions worldwide: first to answer a famine in Ethiopia, and later inspiring global leaders like George Bush and Tony Blair to begin to address the true causes of poverty in Africa.

Brook Lapping is also creating a remastered version of the original 1985 Live Aid Concert footage for rebroadcast on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer, commemorating four decades since this pivotal moment in music history.

The other commission, a six-part travelogue The Square Route with Hannah Fry (working title), for National Geographic and Bloomberg is being produced by Zinc's Atomic Television, in conjunction with Ancestry. It will follow mathematician and presenter, Hannah Fry, across six countries to discover how the forces of geography, climate, history and culture make countries and their people so unique and distinctive.

Both commissions are due to start production in 2025 with all revenue expected to be booked in FY25. Revenue from these productions is already included in FY25 forecasts.

BAFTA Award

At the BAFTA television awards ceremony, held on Sunday 11 May 2025, Rob and Rylan's Grand Tour, produced by Zinc's Rex Production label, was awarded a BAFTA for factual entertainment. Following the success of the first series, Zinc Media Group announces the commissioning of a second series which will air this Autumn on BBC Two & iPlayer.

Mark Browning, Chief Executive Officer, Zinc Media Group, comments:

"These major commissions for such globally significant events such as Live Aid and the prestigious BAFTA for Rob and Rylan's Grand Tour underscore Zinc's esteemed standing in the television industry. There is no greater evidence of the trust that is placed in us by our clients, and the quality of our programmes".
