As part of a guided tour of the facility led by Invinity staff, the Minister charged and discharged an Invinity battery system connected to the Scottish electricity grid and witnessed a number of demonstrations of the technology's capabilities including its fire safety and low noise characteristics. The Minister was shown plans and work in progress to expand output at the facility and saw newly-manufactured components for the LoDES project, which will see up to 20.7 MWh of Invinity's vanadium flow batteries installed at a site in the UK - the largest project of its type in Europe to date.

Following the tour, the Minister, who was accompanied by Kirsteen Sullivan, MP for Bathgate and Linlithgow, discussed Invinity's role as a UK battery champion and how the Company plans to scale up to meet future demand, with specific reference to the up to 7.7 GW of long duration energy storage ("LDES") that is set to be deployed by 2035 in the UK via programmes such as the UK LDES Cap and Floor Scheme.

Invinity continues to engage closely with a number of developers, including partner Frontier Power, to submit project bids at sites across the UK ahead of the first application window for the scheme, which closes on 9 June 2025.

Energy Minister Michael Shanks said:

"Invinity's state-of-the-art battery facility shows how Scotland is leading the way in the UK's clean power mission, innovating to ensure renewable energy can be stored for longer periods of time to power homes and businesses across the country.

"Our Long Duration Electricity Storage investment scheme will help to unleash billions of investment in a new generation of storage technologies like this, to maximise renewable power, create jobs in communities across the UK and deliver our energy security"

Jonathan Marren, Chief Executive Officer at Invinity said:

"We are delighted to have hosted Energy Minister Michael Shanks MP and his parliamentary colleague Kirsteen Sullivan MP at our Bathgate facility and demonstrate the capabilities of our team and our long duration vanadium flow battery (VFB) technology which is proudly Made in Britain.
